Hello! I'm a native of Washington, D.C. that now resides in the Charlotte Metropolitan area of North Carolina. I taught for six years before becoming the instructional support specialist for Johnson C. Smith University through our Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning (CITL). I am also a doctoral student at Baylor University where I am earning my doctorate in education through their Learning and Organizational Change doctoral program. My dissertation focuses on how Black college students who experienced academic difficulties in high school experience belonging in a collegiate academic setting. I am passionate about creating affirming educational opportunities for Black students that open the world up to them and defy systemic limitations. I've taught middle school English and Language Arts and college courses that focus on oral and written communication. I have a Bachelor's degree in Mass Communication from Winston-Salem State University and a Master's degree in Communication from The Ohio State University.
