As CTLs scrambled to support the move to instruction online, they also had to re-envision graduate TA training. Although born of contingency, these changes have demonstrated the potential for CTLs to pivot and utilize the moment as a catalyst for re:imagined goals, including the potential of teaching orientations to foster a sense of belonging and agency for graduate students. The presenters share different approaches taken by two large research institutions. Participants will leverage shared experiences, reflect on successes and examine the future of TA orientations while balancing expectations of graduate students, campus stakeholders, and CTL capacity.
