We developed and implemented a Faculty Learning Community to provide professional development for STEM faculty interested in reimagining how the social context of science practice can be incorporated into their classrooms. Our goals were to a) provide content to participants on the ways in which social structures impact scientific practice, b) cultivate skills around difficult dialogue, and c) give participants an opportunity to design and enact their own social context lesson plan. In this session we will discuss the inspiration for this particular professional development model, the dynamic of the virtual engagement, and examples of design plans that participants presented.
