In this interactive session, we will discuss why we, as faculty developers, need to mindful of how mental health influences students’ learning and educational experiences. However, we will go a step further and identify specific strategies faculty can implement in their teaching to support learners’ mental health. By connecting instructional design elements with the six principles of trauma-informed care, the presenter will highlight how we can use trauma-informed care as a framework for designing our learning environments. Participants will leave the session with concrete strategies to share with their faculty and implement in their own teaching/development work.
